| Freedom to Choose a Union |

Some 45 million US workers would form a union today if they had the chance, according to an independent, nationally respected polling firm. But employers routinely harass, coerce, intimidate and even fire workers to keep them from exercising their freedom to form a union. According to Cornell University research, one-quarter of employers illegally fire at least one worker during private-sector union organizing campaigns.
This is wrong. The legal system for protecting workers' rights is broken. The AFL-CIO along with congressional support has introduced a bill that will give workers the freedom to choose a union without fear of harassment and intimidation from employers. You can help, too. By clicking on the link below you can send a free fax to your representative. Ask your representative to sign on as a co-sponser of this new legislation.

Since President Bush announced his overtime pay take-away in March, hundreds of thousands of labor activisits have taken online actions that have made a difference. This week, you are being asked to take online action, as well as offline action -- in your workplace, your neighborhood or any setting that you come in contact with people.
Already hundreds of thousands of Americans are part of this week of action.
The national goal is to get 100,000 new petition signers to oppose President Bush's overtime pay take-away during the week-of-action. Please go to the site below and fill out the petition. Forward the petition to as many people as you know. By working together, we can make a difference.
